Our sustainability work

Since Vy flygbussarna started its operations in 1989, we have worked to offer the most climate-smart travel possible. We have switched to fossil-free fuel in all our buses and trained our drivers in smart driving. We are proud that around 5 million travellers take public transport with us every year, making it a little greener. But we are not satisfied. We always want to do more, and we believe that we can accelerate further to create a more sustainable society. Welcome to the journey with us.

We use fossil-free fuel

All our buses run on the fossil-free fuel HVO or RME, a renewable diesel made from food industry residues.

Thoughtful departures

On many of our routes, we adapt departures to the way flights land and take off. This means that we don't make more journeys than necessary. However, it also means that you as a traveller may sometimes have to wait a little longer after boarding the bus if we are waiting for other travellers from an arriving flight. We hope you understand this. We thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for travelling by public transport

When you choose to travel by public transport to and from the airport, you are helping to reduce carbon emissions. Did you know that about half of airport emissions come from ground transport? If everyone parked their cars and travelled together instead, the environment would feel much better. From the way we fuel our buses to the way we drive you, we at Vy flygbussarna are doing everything we can to contribute to a more sustainable world.

Social sustainability

For us, sustainability is also about people - that everyone who works for us feels good, that you as a traveller feel welcome on board our buses and that together we contribute to creating a more open and inclusive society.

A company in the colours of the rainbow

Vy flygbussarna have demonstrated the rainbow since 1989. But it's not just our symbol. It goes without saying that you are welcome on board our buses no matter who you love or how you identify. We support the Pride Festival and work continuously to open up the dialogue about LGBTQ+ rights.

We like diversity

At Vy flygbussarna we want everyone to feel welcome and treated equally. We have both employees and customers with different backgrounds, origins and religions and see it as a privilege to be able to take part in different perspectives and ideas. For us, diversity enriches, challenges and develops us - it moves us forward as a company and makes us better. In December 2021, we were also awarded Diversity Certification by Evolve, the Institute for Local and Regional Democracy, a great example that we are actively working on inclusion and anti-discrimination, which we are very proud of and continue to do on a daily basis.

We care about our employees

Vy flygbussarna employs drivers, hosts and service staff. Our philosophy is that work should be characterised by joy, professionalism and community, with short decision-making paths and the opportunity to contribute new ideas. We are convinced that this is reflected in the experience for you as a customer. Internally, we work hard to counteract all forms of discrimination and victimisation. We map and rectify any pay differences between men and women, and have an annual social protection round to ensure that everyone who works for us is doing well.

We are careful about advertising

We do not allow advertising on or in our buses that contributes to negative impacts on society or individuals, such as gambling adverts. We also want our own advertising to be inclusive and reflect a modern and open society.
